Béa Aaronson

(born 1956)

Béa Aaronson is a French artist best known for her mixed-media paintings incorporating collage to create dynamic abstracted images. Aaronson’s works is inspired by the poets Arthur Rimbaud and Charles Baudelaire, along with the visual art of Hieronymous Bosch, Henri Matisse, and Louise Bourgeois. Born 1956 in Paris, France, she studied art history and art theory at the Sorbonne and L’Ecole du Louvre in Paris, later receiving her BA in Art History from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. She moved to Charleston, SC in 1987, and today Aaronson’s works are in the collections of the Hollings Cancer Center, the Medical University of South Carolina, and Rapid Granulators, all in Charleston. Aaronson lives and works in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
