Nancy Fouts is a contemporary American-born British artist, noted for her humorous and ironic sculptures and photographs. Fouts' work is characterized by her combining of two disparate yet somewhat related ideas—a skull and false teeth, or a gun and thorns—thereby transforming everyday items into simple, poetic, and expressive observances. "It's not deep, but it is entertaining and it makes people smile!" the artist has quipped of her own work. She has been exhibited at Anderson & Gold Gallery in London, and her work is featured in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum.
